Rue de Flandre 99, 1000 Brussels

In the heart of Brussels, just a stone’s throw from the bustling Dansaert district, La Marée has been serving up seafood excellence for decades. With Teresa and Mario Alves at the helm, this family-run gem is a tribute to freshness, simplicity, and timeless hospitality – a true seafood oasis in the city.

The setting

Whether you’re dropping in after a city stroll or winding down after the Chicago festival, this is the kind of place that makes you want to stay a little longer.

The taste

menu is a seafood lover’s dream: salted fresh anchovies, delicately cured herring, raw mussels, smoked salmon, and house classics like raie au beurre (skate wing with butter) or the fried version with tartar sauce. The dorade filet “Italian style” and marinated plaice are also highlights – subtle, balanced, and bursting with flavour.

The experience

Service is heartfelt and unfussy, with a genuine smile behind every dish. The staff know their menu well and are happy to guide you through it. Add to that fair pricing and consistent quality, and you’ve got a restaurant that never tries too hard – and doesn’t need to.
