Rue du Bailli 15, 1000 Brussels
The setting
Akko Café blends the refinement of Japanese aesthetics with the warmth of Belgian hospitality. Founded by 25-year-old Jane Rébillé, this family project brings together her Japanese roots and her passion for genuine service. Her sister designed the stunning interior, her father oversees the business side, and her mother provides the cultural inspiration.
Located on Rue du Bailli, Akko Café is bright and elegant — a calm, minimalist refuge where every detail feels intentional. Think soft wood, light streaming through circular windows, and tatami-style seating that evokes traditional Japanese spaces.
The taste
The menu is as thoughtful as the design. Coffee lovers can enjoy beans roasted in partnership with Otara Kava, while tea drinkers are treated to a rare selection of Japanese teas like matcha, hojicha, and bowcha yuzu.
For lunch, Akko serves a teishoku-style daily plate — a beautifully balanced Japanese meal featuring rice, spinach, pickles, soy-flavored egg, and miso soup. The onigiri (rice balls with salmon, tuna-mayo, or miso-shiso) are a Brussels first. Finish your visit with a gluten-free hojicha chiffon cake, airy and aromatic, or one of their carefully sourced pastries from Grain.
The experience
Akko Café is more than just a coffee stop — it’s a peaceful experience that blends precision, calm, and care. Whether you’re coming for coffee, tea, dessert, or lunch, everything feels serene and intentional. The service is friendly and attentive, perfectly matching the refined atmosphere.
Even when it’s busy, there’s a sense of harmony — proof that Akko already stands confidently on its own as a new benchmark for quality coffee and hospitality in Brussels.
